hello world pic not rendering?

I was having a problem getting the hello world pic to show up in my site and thought I was doing something wrong. But, then I saw the site you are doing with ashford and I noticed it did the same thing. Is this a known bug? Or, am I still missing something? Thanks for any help!

Can you point me to a url where this is not rendering? I'm not sure I am following where this is broken on Ashford?

Thanks for replying. Here is the URL for my site:
It is a very new installation of WP and ashford, and I did what the box said and simply dropped a hello_world!.jpg file in /wp-content/themes/ashford/images. It still will not show the image for me. I verified that the image is 840x134.
When I looked at your site at ashford.turtleinteractive.com I see check boxes but no image in the same area. It shows a red X and "Hello World", but no image.
I have verified this from both my home and work internet services, which are different providers, and running different versions of both IE and Firefox browsers.
I am hoping that I am missing something simple and you will be able to point it out to me without too much effort. Thanks for your help, and thanks for ashford!

You are very correct...this is a bug. You did everything right, followed the instructions.
Problem is that I made a mistake. Actually a number of mistakes. So I've attached an updated index.php. Download this and replace
/wp-content/themes/ashford/index.php
Then you should name your image -- splash_blog.jpg.
If this resolves the issue, please let me know. And I will address it ASAP. This fix will be included in a release that I do (possibly today).
I also see that the rounded corners for the tabs and main content do not look great with darker background colors. I will see if I can fix that and do a v0.1.4.1 release today.

It looks like that fixed it. It also looks like I will need to adjust the pic size a little. I thought I had it right on, but will have to double check.
I noticed when I was putting in some test posts that the splash image was changing with a new post. It was expecting an image name that was congruent with text from the latest post. Was that intentional, or was that part of the bug?
In any case, thanks for working on this!

I fixed that on the blog page -- so the home page will always be splash_blog.jpg.
Let me know if you have issues with your About or Testimonials page.
FYI: I'm fixing the rounded corner images to work with dark backgrounds. I will attach them here in a moment.

ah your image needs to be 820 x 132. Here are 2 updated php files that fix that note...

You can upload these images into your images folder -- they will make your site look nicer on a dark background.
